Project Description
Waiheke House

Appreciating the ever changing forms of life & design
This luxury holiday home located on the headland of Matiatia Point gains sweeping views across the Hauraki Gulf. The international clients engaged Bonham to fully redesign the architecture and interior floor plan, interior design and fit out.

The existing building envelope was extended to create more shelter form the prevailing winds and increase the visual impact of the home. The new roof system and included an operational hidden awning system made in bronze zinc, also as part of the under-skin of the entire roof platform to the interior space.
The back courtyard was under developed, so was encased within the new roof structure creating a new indoor / outdoor living area, this also allowed for full height glass above the kitchen area so the home had a full view through the home without compromising the thermal passive heat consistency.

The addition of a secondary front pavilion allowed separation to give a new glass box double entrance way and enclosed garages that were not provided for previously. Overall additional rooms were added, mud room, laundry space and powder room to make the main central pavilion work well for entertaining and day to day family living.
